Hawken Closed Beta

Hey there people on the internetz,
I'm currently playing in the Hawken Closed Beta and loving it. There's a certain joy about running around in a 20 ton mech, shooting and blowing up other people that makes the Transformers fan inside me get a little giddy.

The colour scheme on the other hand is dark and gritty, the sort of stuff we've come to expect from post-apocalyptic and futuristic games. Every colour under the 'grey, grey dark grey and brown' spectrum has been used here. It is nice though to be able to add some detail and colour to your mech though.

Hawken uses a customisation system where you can choose a set of abilties (self healing droid for example), your weapons and your appearance. Personally I think it's just enough customisation to add a heap of adversity to the gameplay because to be honest... If everyone could only choose from a list of 3 different mechs:
- A short range
- A mid range
- A long range
All though it would require a lot more team-work, I think it would get a little boring.

Keeping in mind that this is their last beta until the games release later this year, I'm really excited to see what happens with this one.

For your chance to join the closed beta, like the 'HiTechLegion' Facebook page, they should have over a hundred free codes on their wall, if not, hit up their email and ask about the beta.

Also keep an eye out for my 'Hitman: Absolution' and 'Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale' reviews... They're on their way.

Just an update

Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've posted anything, I've been pretty busy with uni and I haven't had a lot of time to think about anything to post.
It's coming towards the year of my uni year so I'm hopefully going to be posting a little bit more frequently with things such as game updates, things that are happening in the gaming-sphere and I may even try out some reviews.

Until then...

The Walking Dead: The Game - Episode 2: Starved For Help

Back in the shoes of Lee Everett, this episode follows the group of survivors in their search for food. Stumbling across 2 brothers from a dairy farm from up the road aways, Lee and a select group travel to the farm which the brothers promise has plenty of food and security but everything isn't as it seems.

After finishing the last episode of telltale games The Walking Dead, I was gripped by the story and characters as well as the promise of my all of my choices will have an effect on the rest of the story. This episode was definitely not a let down. As I played through I was happy to see the choices that I made last time were remembered in this episode.

Telltale have also said that the gore factor of this series will do nothing but ramp up as it draws to a climactic end with episode 5. Which left me wondering.... 'how much more gore could they possible fit in?' as I chopped of a guys leg in the first 15 minutes.

As I said previously, if you're a zombie fan, a walking dead fan, or a telltale games fan, then you should definitely check this series out. Some scenes may be a little graphic at times but the story is well worth it. My heart didn't stop pumping until the very end. Can't wait until the next one.

About Time Australia

It's been a long time coming but as of last night, us delightful gamers down under finally have an R18+ Rating for video games. Hopefully now we will get the full force of what developers have to give us....... That's right, I'm looking at you Left 4 Dead 2, which was so heavy censored that it was barely playable. Who wants to play a zombie game where there is hardly ANY blood and the bodies completely disappear when they hit the ground..... Not me that's for sure!
